The Toronto Camera Club is sponsoring a in-Club Donated Equipment Sale on Saturday, July 13th.

The doors will be open from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The address is 587 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, Ontario, M4S 2M5.

Some of the equipment will be priced. However, some of the higher-end equipment will be by bid only. Bid forms are $2.

A Photo Journey is the Toronto Camera Club’s annual Public Presentation and fundraiser. Six amazing audio-visual presentations were created for this event by some of our club’s most award-winning and talented photographers in this genre!

Format:  Your choice – in person or online!  Both options are open to members and non-members. 

For those who prefer in-person, we are pleased to announce that this event will have four showings in 2024.  This in-club event will include wide-screen viewing, a gallery exhibit, print sales, and draw prizes.  We are offering free admission to children and teens, who are accompanied by an adult, for the Saturday and Sunday matinees.

For those who prefer online, your ticket will allow you a week-long viewing window.  Over the week, you may view the video as many times as you wish and whenever you want (on-demand). This video presentation can be played on any screen that has access to the Internet.  For the best experience, use your largest screen, and watch the video in full-screen mode.

The Toronto Camera club owns a complete set of studio lighting equipment. This equipment and studio space are available for Club Members to use.

The Club provides Introductory Studio and Portrait Workshops. These Workshops consist of three, three-hour sessions, spread over three weeks These Workshops are generally run in the Fall and Winter months. The topics covered include

  • How to set up the equipment.
  • Understanding how the lights affect your images.
  • How to get the best from your models

We also run Refresher Workshops for Members who have completed the Introductory Workshop.

Members wanting to do studio work at the Club need to meet the following requirements:

  • Have completed the Introductory Studio and Portrait Workshop.
  • Have been a Member for at least one full Season. 
  • Have paid the $30 Studio Fee. Know that this fee is used to refresh and repair the studio equipment.
  • Each shoot needs two people besides the model. It is suggested that the second person be from the Club, but this is not a requirement.

The Club has a wonderful space and all the equipment needed for you to learn how to use studio equipment and to make beautiful portraits (individual, family, pet, etcetera).

The Toronto Camera Club offers a beginners workshop on photography, and this offering is included in your Membership Fee.

The workshop covers the basic principles, fundamentals, and techniques of photography, as well as the rules of composition.

The workshop is normally offered twice a year, with  online and in-person sessions. Classes are normally offered in the Fall (October - November) and the Winter (January - February).

Each workshop has three to four classes, that are two hours each, with four to six participants.

Here is a summary of the workshop outline.

  • How to operate a camera with an explanation of the basic settings.
  • Explain exposure and exposure triangle: Aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
  • Difference between shooting in Manual, Automatic, and Exposure Priority modes.
  • Introduce Depth of Field, White Balance, and the use of Histogram.
  • Achieving different effects with different lenses and accessories.
  • Best practices, composition tips and composition rules.

The participants are given opportunities to create images and practice their skills, followed by reviews and feedback from the instructor and class participants.
